The RoHS Directive defines the restriction for use of certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment. The RoHS Directive is aimed primarily at consumer products, and must be considered for specified products to be placed on the internal market of the European Union. The categories of Electrical and Electronic Equipment covered by the RoHS Directive are based on the WEEE Directive (No. 2002/96/EC). The categories of covered equipment are:

- Large household appliances
- Small household appliances
- Consumer equipment
- Lighting equipment (including electric light bulbs and household luminaires)
- IT and telecommunications equipment
- Electrical and electronic tools (with the exception of large-scale stationary industrial tools)
- Automatic dispensers
- Toys, leisure and sports equipment

The terminal blocks, fuse blocks, and wiring products made by Marathon Special Products are components, and as such are not directly affected by the RoHS or WEEE directives. Typically Marathon components are used in commercial and industrial equipment that is not covered by these Directives, but it is possible that one of the components could be used within equipment covered by the Directives, and then must comply.

Accordingly Marathon has reviewed the materials used to produce its products, and based on supplier certifications and declarations of conformity:

We certify that all products supplied by Marathon Special Products are in compliance with the Restrictions of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive No. 2002/95/EC. As specified for purchase, our materials including their packaging, do not intentionally contain Mercury, Cadmium, Hexavalent Chromium, Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB), Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE), Pentabromodiphenyl Ether (PentaBDE), or Octabromodiphenyl Ether (OctaBDE). Any product utilizing steel, copper, aluminum or their respective alloys will contain lead in trace amounts; however, the amounts are below the allowable limits as set forth in the Annex of the RoHS Directive.
Package labels of conforming products will bear this symbol.
